What can a skyline teach us?
Think about what a skyline really is: Its the sum total of every brick and every beam vertically expanding decade after decade and century after century. Every brick counts and is measurable in its visual and functional impact from the lowest to the highest.
By contrast, the U.S. educational infrastructure yields a social impact far less than the sum of its parts, and far less than the collective cost and effort that's put into it. Our 100 year old educational system is locked into the ideas of the early 1900's. It has spiraled into irrelevance. To salvage it, we must reach the unbundlED state of education. unbundlED.org is a step in that direction.
unbundlED™ means that competent teachers don't need politicians and administrators to micro-manage their curriculum. Guidelines and Best Practices are great, but rigid content bundles aren't. What good teachers need is MicroContent™ that they can assemble themselves and incorporate into their lessons. Content that can be modified to meet the needs of their class, and differentiated to meet the needs of individual students. Content that can discovered and delivered without a Phd in Technology, and content that doesn't have a high priced meter limiting its use.
Every project at unbundlED™ has a commercial component and an educational one. Because education only starts in the classroom, it doesn't end there. Learning can and should be continuous throughout our life, and that's our mission at unbundlED™.
